Are there any paricular elements of the Patriot Act you disagree with, or the Act as a whole?

Really the whole thing. We have better than adequate tools without it.

Ah, OK. The Patriot Act is not without flaws. After 9-11, the federal government passed the Patriot Act as a knee-jerk reaction - "we don't know how the next terrorist attack will come, so let's clamp down hard on anything that couls possibly lead to a domestic attack." Unfortunately, after the recommendations by the 9-11 commission, and an accounting of the results of the Patriot Act in action over the past few years, not a single bill has been put through the Congress and Senate that gives some sort of "middle ground" between having the Patriot Act and not having the Patriot Act. Granted, the TSA will now be allowing nail clippers and such on flights after the first of the year, but the security policy has not been addressed. It's like if a family wants to make sure they can see clearly in the rooms of their home, but choose to either turn off all the lights or turn them all on, instead of saying something like, "maybe we can save some electricity by only leaving the lights on in the rooms we use".

BTW - if you get a chance to, call me at home, and I'll walk you though adding links to your posts. Keep up the posts! They're great!

I agree there are one or two good things in the patriot act, but small separate legislation (like you suggest) could be enacted to address those issues. Good analogy by the way, bro. :)
